Trends in womens fashions: Morality, economics and individualism – Part 1
The way women dress is influenced by many factors such as moral convictions, personality, and financial status. Some women methodically follow fashion trends set by popular culture without paying attention to the message that they send by their choice of clothing;others are more creative and use clothing that will set them apart from the others. I certainly belong to the second group.
I just don’t like some “Barbie dolls” in Hollywood, or elsewhere to decide for me what to wear. Therefore at every stage of life I mix and match different styles that just fit me. Throughout my teenage years I always liked comfortable jeans, loose shirts, and army boots. I hated mini skirts and excessive make up because I thought they were for sissy girls who always ended-up being some guy’s toy.
Now that I am married and a mother army boots are out, but the rest is the same. I still hate mini skirts, but I warmed up to classic cut long ones with dress blouses that don’t reveal half of my breast, it is way too sensual and in my opinion very humiliating; I also like black female suits with variety of colorful shirts.
There are so many different types of clothing styles available to women today. That is why I admire very much women who are creative and respect themselves by what they put on. Financial success for sure gives greater ability to pick and choose what suits us best, but it doesn’t mean that women who have less money cannot be creative as well.
Clothing is a great tool in celebrating personality and the beauty of individual styles. That’s what makes this world an interesting place.
