Should US companies be required to provide equal pay to women and men? – Part 40

Women should have an equal chance in the market place, but not be guaranteed equal pay. Just as your skin color should not get you a higher pay grade, neither should your sex.

I’m a firm believer that companies should rather have to prove pay based on either productivity or experience or a combination of the two. I don’t think its in the economy or our best interest to pay sub-par workers high wages for substandard work.

In many industries I’d imagine women should be paid the same or more than their male counterparts. Maybe women are more skilled dexterity wise and focused, and some even stronger.

However, if a man can for example, carry 20 crates of fruit an hour to be packaged and a women 15 crates, I believe the women should be paid 25% less in wages for her work. Not because she’s female, but because she is costing the company more money to do the same work. And vice versa the other way.

The solution should be various benchmarks that are mandatory from the government that each industry must set. If a women or a man takes more time off work or is less productive, they should be paid less. That simple. If people say it’d be too difficult to find that out in some businesses, I’d say hogwash. Every company generates a net profit, and when it comes time to contract, they should be allowed to offer UNEQUAL pay to those who are either very good or bad at what they do. So I must say, NO there should not be mandatory balanced pay scale just because you are a female in a free market country.

This debate is still going, even years after women where supposedly given equal rights? I’m amazed that women can, and still do, stand for this treatment in many areas of employment. If you do the work you earn the pay, just as much as a man. And may I add, often a woman is stronger than a man and a little less lazy at times.

OK men crucify me but it’s a fact.

It doesn’t matter what country, a woman should be paid equally.

I agree with one statement, that perhaps the employers/government, are attempting to send us right back to where they think we should be, in the house making babies.

Wiping dirty little bums, and unable to do anything else.

Women have often surpassed men in the brains department.

Statistics say we mature quicker than men. That women overshadow men in being literate, and that we are more punctual, and apt to be the perfectionist much more than men. Thus our work input is good.

Our mannerism much calmer in comparison to most men.

So why should we put up with less pay, less respect, and less chance of a career?

We all have the same type of bills to pay. The same commitment to place food upon the table. The same hopes and dreams for our own home etc. What about the single mother? Scraping to keep a family together and a roof over her children’s heads. Often we can ask “and where is the father in this stage of the kids lives?”

Out soliciting votes for his local party, who allow lower wages for women!
