Plus size women fashion tips: How to use sarongs
Sarongs provide a very delicate way of wrapping a woman’s body in beautiful fabrics, and there are many styles available that work well even in the plus size range of garments. From formal dress-wear to casual, the sarong is a great addition to the wardrobe, and with the correct choice can be worn with panache, no matter what size you are.
BEACHWEAR SARONGS.
These are a very handy item for ladies in the plus size range, as they can effectively cover up those areas that are perhaps not strong points in the beach look. Sarongs for beachwear come in different lengths, though the easiest is the short length that at it’s longest point touches just above the knee. Longer ones look a little overpowering on the plus sized lady, though can be considered as suitable for those lucky enough to have long legs.
The manner in which these are used is to wrap around the waist flowing into a point at knee level for the beachwear sarongs, ensuring that the side of the knot which holds the look together is just beneath waist level, while the other side sits on the waist. What this does is create a diversion for the eye and makes a woman’s roundness more flattering. These can be packed with your swimwear and used in between swimming or sunbathing to walk, and is effective at covering those areas of cellulite quite nicely.
The longer beach sarongs are elegant and again should be wrapped from the waistline to just below it and never tied with an excessive bow. If the material is thick a delicate knot works well and takes emphasis off larger hips. The longer beachwear sarongs come in many colors, although the plus sized lady should consider if their hips and tummy are their weakest points, since the choice of colors will be important. Here, the darker colors are more discreet and look nicer than those that the slimmer ladies can get away with that draw the eye of the beholder towards them.
SHOULDER WRAP SARONGS
These are a very versatile garment for the lady who wants to look elegant and perhaps hide weaker areas in the shoulder region. There are different ways of wearing these, and the shoulder method is the one to choose for shoulders that are overweight, while the way of wearing a wrap sarong can be adjusted to use in a bikini top effect, although much more formal than beachwear, making it suitable for evening wear.
For the shoulders, a simple single knot with the fabric hanging neatly looks super over evening
Plus size women fashion tips: How to use sarongs – Part 1
Sarongs are great fun to wear in the summer and a really nice way to cover up our flaws while at the beach or pool. Buy several of them, especially if you are going on vacation!
You can tie your sarong many different ways, depending on the length of the sarong. I like to buy sarongs that I can roll up or roll down to make them either short or longer.
Another great thing about sarongs is you can actually wear them in the evening or shopping during the day while on vacation. Just make sure you have it tied properly at the waist, some women wear very light weight shorts under them just in case : )
You may also use your sarong as a wrap in the evening. Especially when you are vacationing near the beach or water. The evenings do get a little cooler and these sarongs are lightweight enough but also add a little layering warmth.
Take a small bottle of woolite along in your bag and wash your sarong out in the sink every night…this way the colors stay bold and your sarong is always fresh and ready to wear!
