Should US companies be required to provide equal pay to women and men? – Part 42
I am cringing while I am writing this – absolutely, positively, .. cringing!
I am a proud feminist! (Yes, you read it correctly. I did say the evil word, “feminist,” and I’m not taking it back!) Should women and men be paid equally for equal work? Absolutely, positively, no doubt about it, no question, YES! Men and women should be paid equally. Women should be paid better when they’re doing more work. Men should be paid better when they’re doing more work. Equality is necessity.
Should US companies by required to provide equal pay to women and men?
NO.
In a perfect world, my answer would definitely be YES.
But people, we do not live in a perfect world. If a “requirement” such as this were to be put into effect in America, it would cause more problems than it solved. Heads of companies will be so worried about being sued or breaking the law that they will not be objective about deciding pay. Inevitably, women who just began working, or are not working at the level they should be, will be paid exactly the same as a man who has put in time, or has put in much more effort. Inevitably, we would have a situation of reverse prejudice. Inevitably, people of both sexes will begin to despise the unfair and seemingly much better treatment of women within the working world. Inevitably, heads of companies will begin to cringe every time they see a woman’s resume come across their desk, wondering how much they will have to pay this woman, for how little work, in order not to be sued.
Making “requirements” is not the answer to the horrible injustice we have today when women are paid much less than men for equal or even more work. The companies must be held responsible with their own policies, rather than forcing an outside policy upon them. Real change always happens within, never without.
Should US companies be required to provide equal pay to women and men? – Part 71
Well Mr. Hamilton…I do believe you are wrong. Women are just as good as men. In fact, a lot of time we’re smarter and less stubborn. Think about it, women will ask directions and get wherever they’re going faster. Mean, however, will drive around for hours trying to find it themselves. What’s with that? I think, no matter what your gender, everybody should be payed what they’re earning. Seems simple, huh? And also Mr. Hamilton, what about the women that do make the same career choices as men? Should they be punished for a person’s opinion, like yours, on what women should be paid. Let the employer choose how much to pay, but let them pay all people that much, not just the men, and not just the women. And pay discrimination does exist. It seems that some men still think that they’re better. Those men, in power, are what have caused this problem. I’m not saying all men suck, but I am saying a lot of their views should be changed. Though I must say Mr. Hamilton, you did seem convincing, even if I think your wrong.
Is real beauty on the outside or the inside? – Part 1
As much as people would like to believe, they can smear on some make up and a little bit of mousse and come out looking fabulous, it doesn’t happen unless you believe in yourself, and you really know that you look amazing. Then you do. You glow, you look radiant. As much as one would like to believe, one without this inner knowing that they really are stunning – without it being an arrogance, then one really isn’t beautiful.
Real beauty, isn’t a sweep of concealer, with some cover up, then a lot of foundation, covered up with blush, lipstick, eye primers/shadows/liners (either pencil, liquid or gel)/mascaras, glosses, blushes, setting sprays. Of course on perfectly primed skin All of this is man made, it’s been created in factories, and squeezed out of bottles or applied with brushes. It’s all been carefully done, planned, and applied with years of practice. Same goes for hair. It’s been washed, with shampoos, conditioners, then dried, with serums, mouses, sprays, brushed, dried, curled or straightened then set, made too look perfect. It’s not real. It’s fake.
What makes a real person beautiful, is the knowledge, that no matter what happens to them they have a sparkling personality, there is something that makes them different to everyone else out there. It’s a security in ones self. Even if it does mean an extra couple of seconds when you get out the shower before you start squealing about what you should fix with surgery, creams, and goodness knows what else these days, compared to other people out there.
Beauty is a wonderful personality, and to some people an inner peace. It’s much more real than several hours of primping. Men find that women, with no make up, messed up hair, is one of the sexiest things they’ve ever seen. Beauty isn’t all the products in the world, beauty comes within, after discovering yourself, knowing yourself, and knowing that people just can’t ever be as wonderful as you because they’re not you.
It is one of those things that has become defined as a plethora of beings. Beauty can be a place, an object, a feeling, a look, it can be anything. Where it come from is once again, anywhere. A human beauty, a natural beauty comes from within. As Tyra Banks says – one of the most beautiful women in the world, a girl doesn’t have to be the prettiest, the nicest, but what she does have, is a belief in herself that she is beautiful. And that. Above all things, is what makes someone beautiful.
Womens fashion: How to dress business casual and still look like an executive – Part 3
Unfortunately, this is a question that gets asked considerably more in reference to women that it does for men. Women are judged more by what they do or do not wear than men are. Also, other people seem to react more to the way women dress in the workplace than how men dress. If a woman dresses too casual, she is not serious about her job, but if she dresses too professionally, she is ambitious and dressing “above her station”. People judge women by how their hair is styled, the amount of makeup they wear, and the amount of cleavage that may or may not be showing. Too much cleavage or makeup and she does not take her job seriously enough and not enough and she is attempting to look less like a woman.
The fact is, it is hard for a woman to win the clothing battle, no matter how she dresses. By this I mean that there will always be some people that make judgments against a woman because of her dress while completely negating her accomplishments, skills, and intelligence. Therefore, the best way to dress in any style and still look like and executive is to wear what you want and are comfortable with, regardless of what others think.
