No matter what size you are, we all want a great pair of jeans that we just love to wear, then when we find them we wear them night and day until they fall to pieces and then we struggle to find another pair ‘just like them’ – sound familiar? Ever wished you had bout six pairs when you found the first pair? I know I have!

I have found that the most flattering jeans for curvy women are the bootcut range. They are fitted close around the bottom and thighs and then just widen from below the knee – a perfect cut will mean you can just see the toes of your shoes! I love this style, in the UK I have found that Dorothy Perkins do a good range, with various leg lengths for us shorties or for those of you who are taller, my only bug bear with them is that not all stores stock larger sizes. The other good shop is Evans, a store designed for women size 16 plus. Both stores seem to have the cut just right and also understand that we don’t want jeans with a waistband on the pubic bone! New Look are also getting their act together with their Inspire range too. They are actually beginning to understand that just because we don’t look like we eat lettuce all day doesn’t mean we don’t want to look smart and trendy.

I would always advise you to try the jeans on in store, I know some stores have communal changing areas which can be disconcerting, but take a friend with you, they can shield you from prying eyes and can also give you an honest opinion of the fit. Every manufacturer styles and shapes their jeans differently, the cut is different too, this is a problem encountered by anyone regardless of size so unfortunately the only way is trial and error. Once you find a manufacturer and style that suit you, stick with them! Don’t cut the labels out and forget where you bought them, otherwise you will end up like me, wishing you had bought six pairs of jeans rather than the one!
