Hair care tips for women with dry hair – Part 7
Deep Conditioning on a Budget
Rough on the outside and smooth on the inside, avocadoes possess amazing moisturizing capabilities. Avocado oil can make stressed hair smooth from the inside to the outside, producing shiny, brilliant, and moisturized hair.
Thanks to the culinary demand for new natural cooking oils, avocado oil is now being processed by several companies around the globe. Its popularity is growing because this innovative product has only been available to the public since 1999. Because avocadoes are a year round crop, olive oil businesses can generate olive oil during the olive season and avocado oil the remaining part of the year.
Processed from the thickset green flesh surrounding the avocado pit, avocado oil contains from 8 to 30% of a non-drying oil and it is rich in Vitamin E and high in monounsaturated fat. The oil is divided from dehydrating the pulp, then pressed or removed with solvents. The end result is emerald green oil with the rich aroma of celery and artichokes combined with the enduring essence of avocado.
To find avocado oil, merely look at your local supermarket near the olive oil. Buy a simple bottle of avocado oil, no special requirements needed for certain types. One bottle only costs between $5 and $10 depending on the packaging. Remember, all you need is simple avocado oil.
With the constant need to color, blow dry, and flat iron today, hair easily becomes in need of emergency conditioning. Often healthy hair looks stressed and unmanaged because of dry ends. For an easy and instant improvement, dab a little avocado oil on the ends of hair to moisturize the ends. Especially for fine or thin hair, first try avocado oil on the ends to help smooth dry hair or split ends.
For thick or course hair, the oil may also be applied to the entire head. It is best to leave the oil on for at least three hours. Plan ahead; decide to apply the avocado oil when you have a day to be at home. The oil may also be applied and left on overnight. Be sure to allow some time in the morning to wash the oil out.
To apply the oil, stand in a place where excess oil would be easy to clean up, the shower is often the best place. Turn your head over and begin to apply the oil to the scalp, and work your way around your head. Massage the oil all over your scalp until it is completely covered and evenly distributed. Next, apply the oil to the long tresses. Again, massage hair. Divide tresses into two or three parts and equally coat each part. Rub hair together. Finally, douse the ends completely and utterly masking with oil.
After the oil is applied, put your hair into a ponytail or bun and cover up with a plastic shower cap or towel. Allow the oil to set for at least three hours. Most women enjoy applying the oil Saturday morning and then washing the oil out Saturday afternoon for an amazing night on the town!
For those who are concerned with the difficulty of washing out the avocado oil, do not despair. Some hair types require more patience and time. However, a good tip is to apply a mixture of moisturizing shampoo and water before entering the shower to rinse out the oil. This mixture will begin to break the oil up, allowing the rinse out to be easier and cleaner. Stand under the shower and form an abundance of suds to wash out the oil. Work the suds through your hair and massage the ends. Finish the treatment with a light conditioner. After washing out the light conditioner, blast hair with cold water to seal the conditioning treatment.
Nurture hair with avocado oil once a month to leave it soft and shiny just like professional salon treatments.
