Are women victims of widespread discrimination – Part 1

There is no denying that over the years, women throughout the world have made significant progress. Today, there are women who occupy positions of power in almost all spheres of life. We have women ministers, corporate leaders, administrators, academicians etc.But despite their contributions, discrimination against women is still widespread. Women are victims of male dominance. This is the reality.

In fact, in some societies discrimination starts even before they are born., when expectant parents hoping for a son abort their unborn daughters.

In other societies, girls are forced to marry at an early age before they are emotionally and physically prepared for motherhood. And the suffering and unfair treatment continues in the form of domestic violence which is quite prevalent even in the developed countries. Often these women, having no way out, are forced to live tragic life.Of course legislation has been introduced to protect women. Women’s organizations throughout the world are doing their best to combat all forms of discrimination. Such efforts have only met with limited success. In our country, after years of campaign, the Domestic Violence Art was finally passed in 1996. However, it has yet to be fully implemented due to administrative constraints. One of the major causes of the discrimination is the outdated ideas and attitudes against women. The belief that women are inferior to men is still strong. This leads mens to the mistaken notion that the main duty of women is to serve men. With such unprogressive ideas it is difficult for most societies to view women’s rights as human rights. To these misguided people, women’s rights are a separate entity.

Discrimination at the workplace is still rampant. Although in most occupations women enjoy equal pay, discrimination rears its ugly head in other forms. Women, for example, do not enjoy equal opportunities when it comes to promotion. Sexual harassment at the workplace is yet another form of injustice women have to put up with.To alleviate the sufferings of women there should be concerted effort to do away with cultural practices that discriminate against women. This can be done by continuous public education to change the mindset of both men and women so that women can enjoy fully their rights as humans.Governments have to be supportive of the women’s struggle against all forms of injustice. One should not forget that women make up half of the world’s population. The full participation in the political and socio-economic life of a nation can only be made possible if all forms of discrimination are eliminated.Let’s wait for the day when emancipated women are treated as partners, and not as the ” weaker sex ” created for the sole purpose of serving men.

Best body wash products for men – Part 3

I’ve tried many a body wash in my time, smelling nice and having good personal hygene is essential nowadays – how many of us have got into a lift to be greeted by the sour, acrid stench of body odour? Although it is awkward telling someone else they smell “a little ripe” it is far easier to make sure we ourselves emit a satisfying non offensive odour when interacting with our fellow beings. For me, Lush “Happy Hippy” Shower gel is amongst the best body wash products available today. Most of us know about lush and their products; all manner of colourful and fragrant beauty goodies backed up with a safety without suffering’ ethos and sold in stores you can smell a quarter of a mile away. But if like me you thought Lush was the sole preserve of the female species then you are mistaken. Now us blokes have a reason to enter a Lush shop other than to treat the women in our lives to some goodies, as it seems Lush are producing male products now, as I found out when an old flame bought me some Lush products last Christmas.

Top of the pile was a bottle of Happy Hippy’ hair and body shower gel a blend of grapefruity goodness apparently! Being a man who shaves his head I have little need of a hair treatment which meant my bottle would be used exclusively as a shower gel. Having read many other Lush product reviews I was actually looking forward to trying it out I was about to lose my Lush virginity! So it was with a spring in my step I took a shower after a long and hot day at work, I needed to relax and rejuvenate and let the stresses of the day wash away under the warm water. After getting thoroughly wet I squirted a globule of the sticky substance into the palm of my hand and set about massaging it into my body in a circular movement. The first thing that struck me was the exquisite scent of grapefruit and spring flowers accosting my nostrils; it is the type of smell that perks you up and soothes at the same time.

As I continued to work the gel into my body the smell got stronger and stronger I really was starting to get rejuvenated! Also worthy of note is the way the gel lathered up during use; I like a goodly amount of lathering so was delighted to be getting slowly covered in the white foamy cleanliness as I showered. The gel felt gentle on my skin with no harshness or ill effects from its use; indeed I accidentally got some in my eyes while washing my face and was delighted to find no adverse stinging. The lather also dispersed quickly during rinsing

Buying The Ideal Gift For Women- Match The Gift to Her Personality and Interests

It is often said that women are a very difficult gender to buy for, and may I add that it is usually the male gender who says this. When it comes down to buying the right present for a women, I got to thinking, are we ‘female species’ really that difficult to buy for? My answer to this would be no, if you try and find a gift to match her personality and interests. In this article, I will highlight some gift ideas to match various personalities and interests

The Out- Going Type Who Likes to Have Fun-funny and novelty gifts are a good match for a women with this personality. Here are some that I have picked.

Candy Bra- as the name implies this is a bra made purely of candy (yes sweets!). The sweets themselves, of which there are 330, are the delicious necklace sweets that we all used to love as kids. It’s no longer the case of ‘do my boobs look good in this?’, but rather now the question ‘do my boobs look TASTY in this?’ Also in this range are Candy G-String and Candy Garter.

Wind Up Racing Grannies- this hilarious novelty toy is a pair of grannies, who when you wind them up, will race each other, holding onto their walking supports! These racing grannies really are very funny to watch, and a great gift for a female who likes to laugh! In this range is also Wind Up Fighting Grandads (yes, these two grandads fight each other with their walking stick.

The Homely Type- if the female you are buying for is, it is obvious to say that buying her something for her home is the perfect match. However, to pinpoint even further it is wise to buy a home gift that suits her taste, whether it be traditional or contemporary. There is of course a vast array of products available, but here are 2 examples of gifts to suit this type of female.

Hand Crafted Mango Wood Candle Holders- these particular candle holders are stylish and with a contemporary look, it will fit well into the modern home. Although there are of course many types available, the ones I would highlight here in fact come as a set of 3 square holders, each bigger larger then next and fit ‘into’ each other.

Pop Corn Maker- a homely person is someone who not only is proud of her home, but likes to spend her time in it. I have chosen the pop corn maker, because on those DVD nights, it makes a perfect combination.

The Creative Type – if she is what you would call the creative type, buying her a gift which has creative flare would be a good match. Here are two examples.

Hand Painted Pop Art Canvas – the painting itself can be a replication of a photo print, be it a famous person, a city or a personal photo. The creativity is in the conversion of the photo into a pop art piece. There are also other creative designs that can be achieved such as Retro, Illustration and Warhol. However, these designs tend to usually be for personalised photos.

The Beauty and Fashion Conscious- it would be fair to say there are many women in this category. The choice of gifts you have available here is vast. The more traditional gifts such as clothes and perfume is an obvious choice. Here are two slightly more unique gifts that fall into this category.

Bath Pearls – having a nice hot bubble bath after a long hard day at work is to most women, heaven. Bath Pearls make a great addition to the ambience of relaxation and spa therapy. They float on water and will change into 7 different colours constantly. These ambient lighting bath pearls are ideal for a relaxing session in the bath.

The Personal Stylist – now, do not be fooled by the words personal stylist and think that this is something only the rich and famous can afford. This very unique and useful gift is in fact a personal stylist in a gift box. This gift box consists of personal style report compiled by a fashion stylist who has worked with top celebrities and actors. The recipient has to fill out a questionnaire, answering questions on areas such as their height measurements, body niggles, colouring, style personality and face shape. They will receive a personal style report to include: what colours suit you, how to maximise your assets, what clothes suit your body shape and height, how to dress to disguise your body niggles, what items are a must for your wardrobe, how your face shape impacts what make-up and hair choices you should make and lots, lots more. I would consider this an excellent gift for the fashion conscious woman.

Although there is a much large range of personalities and interests to consider, I have not covered them all in this article. The aim of this article is to help drive your chain of thoughts when finding a gift for a woman, and I hope that I have gone a little way to achieve that.

Beauty Tips – Face Care Natural Way

Your face is what you show the world, a fresh well kept face looks radiant, energetic and fresh. Not to mention the fact that it is a big confidence booster. You no longer will feel shy of meeting people once your face looks the way it is supposed to. Today maintaining a fresh and energetic face is easier and less time consuming as some might imagine.

The market is flooded with beauty products for every kind of skin type, skin condition, and skin tone. These items can range for the generic brands set at reasonable prices to the top of the line products which can become very expensive. Instead of paying a lot of money to the department stores, have you ever considered making these same products for yourself? It’s true. It can be done and the products you create at home can be just as, if not more, effective than anything you can find on a shelf.

Let’s start with ingredients. Before running off to another store, check your cabinets and refrigerator. Do you have oatmeal? How about yogurt? Great! Now you are all set to make a simple facial cleanser. Just add enough yogurt to a ½ cup of plain oatmeal. Rub gently all over your face. Be careful to keep it out of your eyes. Rinse the mixture off with lukewarm water and viola – you’ve got a cleaning and conditioning facial.

Need to improve the elasticity in your face? Go to the refrigerator and grab an egg. Separate the yolk from the egg white. Put the egg white into a bowl and whip with a manual egg beater. Apply to your entire face and allow it time to dry completely. Rinse the egg from your face with warm water. Can you feel the difference? Your skin should feel tighter and smoother. It really is that easy.

Do you suffer from dry skin? Get the yogurt back out and measure one tablespoon. Mix the yogurt with one tablespoon of honey. Be sure to mix well. Smooth the cream in to your entire face. Do not rinse your face. The mixture will re-hydrate the skin and provide much needed moisture.

Acne plagues not only young teens but older adults as well. For a simple acne treatment at home, try combining one part bran with one part baking soda and add enough water to form a paste. Apply the paste to your entire face and keep the mixture on for about 15 minutes. Use one part apple cider vinegar to eight parts of water to make a rinsing solution to clean the paste from your skin.

Not only are natural beauty remedies inexpensive and easy, they also prevent you from consistently exposing yourself and your skin to unnecessary harsh chemicals which can build up in your body and lead to even bigger issues. There are many places to find creative ways to produce your own beauty products, even your Grandma may have some tips of her own.

Regardless, of what your concerns and problem areas are, you can have a little fun experimenting with your own ingredients and ideas.

Even if you opt to buy off the shelve products make sure that they are made from natural ingredients and don’t contain synthetic or chemical ingredients. Also take a look at the directions of use and the warning label if there is one to make sure that it does not cause any side effects or is just limited to use on a few skin types. This will ensure that you never run into trouble when using off the shelve products. However only use off the shelve products if you don’t have the time to prepare these for yourself at home.

Womens emotional health and well – Part 4

My Brother nicknamed his wife’s friends, “The Girlfriends.” What a set they are. These women, all about 30 years of age could definitely be a TV show. Two of them are on anti depressants another one of them needs to be. The fourth one is in a live in relationship with the father of her kids, but is just doing it for the kids, the one who “needs” to be on anti depressants has many casual relationships and regularly takes time off to contemplate her life, especially after a heavy therapy session. The sixth is happily married to a man who desperately wants to have kids, while she has no intention of having kids, but hasn’t told him. No wonder the majority of prescriptions being filled daily is anti depressants, some reports say 80%. It seems a large amount of us are mentally ill distressed and unbalanced. The majority of these prescriptions, over 60% are to women. If these numbers and “the girlfriends” are any indication, we are all in serious trouble

Plus size women fashion tips: Choosing a flattering clubbing outfit – Part 3

Some of the most beautiful women I have ever known have been large women. In fact, I will go so far as to rank myself among them.

Arrogance? No – Practicality. If you cannot look in the mirror and say to yourself, “Now, there is an absolutely attractive person,” then you have no business trying to make yourself flattering to other people.

You don’t have to have a super-model physique or even your own ideal physique to love how you look. Sure, if you’d like to lose a few sizes, and you think you’d be happier that way, go for it! But in the meantime, take a good look in a reflective surface – the bigger, the better – and look yourself square in the eyes. Say to yourself: “Self… today, I am sexy.” Because loving how you look is about being yourself. And that, friends, is exactly the key to finding the perfect outfit, whether you’re just out with friends or hoping to snag that hot date.

Rule Number One: Be realistic. Even if you don’t like your size, don’t be shy about it. Clothes that *fit* are far more flattering than ones that don’t, and the best way to find clothes that fit are to look for the appropriate sizes, and if absolutely uncertain, ask for help. Something that’s too tight or too loose can hide your best features, or accentuate exactly the wrong ones. Fact: A majority of women are wearing the wrong bra size! This goes back to “don’t be shy” don’t be too shy to get fitted for the right bra, or ask a salesperson or specialist to help you find the right cuts/fits of clothing, as well. If you’re not shopping or can’t find the time to be fitted, get a friend who will give you her honest opinion to help you choose the styles that fit your body shape well.

Rule Number One, again (because they’re both that important!): Be YOURSELF. Choose colors you like, and styles that represent your personality, or your mood. Feeling flirty? Choose something a little lower-cut, or perhaps add some lace. Want to be aloof and mysterious? Try out something silky, bold, but conservative. But most of all, find something that you’re *comfortable* wearing! One of the worst looks on womankind is when she’s trying to hide inside, or worse yet, *from* her clothing.

Something to consider when trying to decide on the right look for you: Beyond your outfit itself, there’s always the plethora of accessories and make-up and hairstyles that go with any woman’s true “style” session. Accessories such as handbags, scarves, belts, and shoes can make your statement for you, and as a plus, help to diversify your wardrobe without too much added cost. Once again, go with your instincts: choose your favorite colors, or whatever styles make *you* smile the best accessory for ANY outfit is a smile!

The bottom line is, if you feel comfortable and acceptable to yourself, then you can feel like others can accept you, too. And when you feel accepted, you can move on to whatever personality you’re trying to portray – sexy, professional, girl-next-door, or whatever. If you feel attractive, you’ll act attractive, and when you act attractive, it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing; you ARE attractive.

Womens bodies represented as objects of beauty – Part 5

A womens body, is a work of art, beauty, and the representation of that art, beauty, is abstract to say the least. There is no two women that look alike. Even twins have differences. Who does the media think they are by plastering us with pictures of one type of body. They tell us this is how we should look and feel. The beauty of the woman is our individuality.

There is no such thing as the perfect woman. Beauty is made up of many facets. Looks is a part of a bigger package. The whole shebang is what we should be looking at but no, the media, has made women a type. I go on the record by saying yes, a woman’s body is represented bas objects of beauty. Beauty in her eyes, her mind and her soul. Beauty in her lips, her smile, and her opinions. The whole package is the beauty.

Fat, thin, ugly, pretty, are only labels put on us by the media over the past hundred years. You, yourself, find the flaws within and need no help by the media or anyone else for that matter. Yes, a woman’s body is representation of beauty, but as an individual. We are all beautiful and represent ourselves.

A model in a magazine, newspaper, movie or television does not a real woman make. We are real, they are posed and had a lot of people helping them to look that way. Real is the key so if you want representation, then look in the mirror and see what a real woman looks like. You, the perfect way to represent women. Beauty lies withing the confines of ones own mind. If we are brainwashed to think we should look a certain way, then we fail as a female. Be proud, represent, and give em all you have to offer. Think, laugh, be yourself and the world will be your oyster.

The backbone of this question is tricky. If you mean tossing nudity out there like an old shoe, then that is just silly. Women are not a poser, but a wonder. Yes, the female’s body is a true form of art and truly a representation for objects of beauty. That, is something no one can deny. if anyone decides they wish to deny the beauty represented by a body of any woman, they are just ignorant, or have another agenda, as their follow up.

Should US companies be required to provide equal pay to women and men? – Part 25

This question is absolutely ridiculous. Women are human beings and deserve to have the sane rights as men. Men are no better than women. We’re all human beings and we all deserve to be treated equally Why should a man and a women be paid less for doing the same exact job? Why should a women put in the same amount of time and effort into a job only to be paid less than a man?

Men and women may be built a little different physically, although there are some exceptions to this. However, we’re all created the same mentally and we all have the ability to strengthen our minds. A woman can work just as hard at a job as a man. Women have bills and living expenses just as men do, and need the money as much as men do. The United States is supposed to be the most modern and liberal country in the world, and paying men and differently for the exact same work is biased, old-fashioned, and unjust.

While we have come some way in the battle of equal pay, we still have quite a way to go. How often to you see a female executive or CEO? It is a rarity but it’s still pretty uncommon even in the 21st century. Women today are still hired more for their looks than for their qualifications. This is something that needs to be done away with. Women need to be hired because they have skills and can handle the work, not because of their physical features. They also deserve to get merit raises and promotions the same way that men do.

There’s no question about it, women should be regarded and revered the same way men are in the workplace. However, it’s time to stop making this an exclusively female issue and think about others too. Is the African American male paid the same as a Caucasian or white male in the workforce? Most of the time the answer will be no. How about the Spanish-American guy or the immigrant from Ireland? They are probably paid less than the white male since they’re not a part of the dominant race. U.S. companies need to pay equal pay to all, not just women.

Should US companies be required to provide equal pay to women and men? – Part 67

I am stunned that this is even a topic to be discussed.

I have one question for all of those who do not feel this should be yes. What does a man do better in the office than a woman to justify more of a salary?

It is so frustrating when people state that men are more competent in the office because women are more “emotional”. I despise that comment, while statistically women are more emotional we also do posses the ability to balance that out with a practical and logical approach. This emotional side allows us to have better problem solving skills, thus creating more collaboration in any conference room. I have been in Corporate America for 10 years. I have dealt with many competent professionals, both men and women, on the other side of that I have dealt with many unprofessional, incompetent colleagues, again both men and women. It is not gender that determines your success in the office, nor should it determine your salary.

At the end of the day two people paired up side by side, with the same level of experience, and education level should be equally compensated whether regardless, of age, race, religion, etc., it is a little thing called the Equal Employment Opportunity Act.

A thought to ponder, I recently heard at a seminar I attended that in 15-20 years they expect that 60% of women will be the “bread winners” in their homes. I wonder how it will feel when the tables are turned.

Plus size women fashion tips: Finding the right plus size jeans

Plus size women fashion tips: Finding the right plus size jeans

We all search for that perfect pair of jeans that not only feel comfortable, but that look great and plus sized women are no exception. Why should they be left out when there are so many of us and the fashion industry wants our business ?

Over the last ten years, the progression of the fashion industry towards tailoring jeans to fit with certain images has gone through leaps and bounds. No longer are just the skinny girls catered for and in the average department store jeans department, the range available for the larger woman is ever increasing to take account of the fact that we are not standard, but that each shape of woman is one that is a potential market.

THE MIRROR TEST

It’s a good idea to look in the mirror and face a few home truths. None of us are perfect in looks, though what this does is highlight those areas of weakness so that when we go to try on jeans, we know which parts of our lower body let us down. For jeans there are five major parts of the body that will need to be looked at:

*Leg Length

*Thickness of waist

*Hips

*Thighs

*Behind

*Delicate parts

Looking into the mirror helps you decide those areas where you may need a little help from clever cut and manufacture to find that perfect pair of jeans.

IN THE SHOP

Looking at the many choices available to you, it can sometimes be extremely difficult to decide which cut would look nice, and the mistake that is often made by ladies in the plus size is that they are slow to try new ideas. What they may not even consider trying may be that one style that flatters them the most. Take a look at the whole range available in your size. Get an assistant to measure you as this will give you a realistic idea of the size range that may suit you.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR TO SUIT DIFFERENT WEAKNESSES.

Leg length.

Here, the short tubby lady can really come into her element, because just because her legs are short doesn’t mean they have to be presented as such. With a nice pair of solid wedged shoes that give good support to the body, rather than silly heels, these can mean that you can choose those lengths that are longer and get away with presenting yourself as if you have longer legs. This works particularly well with boot cut or slight flares, though large flares on the plus size lady tend to look overly emphasized and do not present the plus sized lady at her best.

For those that are short in the body but
